Summary
Portland, Oregon, USA. Nick Burkhardt is a detective in homicides, when he suddenly gets what he thinks are hallucinations. But his aunt, terminally ill, comes to visit with news and information. He is a descendant of the Grimm, the same of the fairy tales, and it is now his job to regulate non-humans whoever they are. And naturally, to help, he is supposed to keep it secret, and manage personal life, job in the police, and Grimm descent.
My advice
A good mix of plausible detective stories, legends and tales of all genres, humour (yes, really, Sgt Wu’s jokes, for example…) and personal life. While you must not expect a deep series (“races” names have mistakes in German [and Latin, says Tyr], there are Captain Obvious moments, or alternatively “but why are you loosing time doing… when you should be doing…”, and some unrealistic things, etc.), but a good series to watch with no hassles. And I have a soft spot for the captain, in the “I like mysterious characters on the good side of the law but with a but…” sense
