John Ringo
This is an author I choosed first because he was published by a “good” med-fan editor, Baen Books, and there were dragons inside. Err. Well.
Council Wars: (There will be dragons - Emerald Sea - Against the Tide) Strange serie of which the cover of the first volume is less that interesting: an elve with a bow in front of a dragon, looking “phony”. Well, it is not really so. This image corresponds to what is roughly in the middle of the first volume… but the story is very good: the world in more than 2000 years, very advanced technologicaly (no need to bear babies, possibilities to modifiy oneself genetically, to be healed by nanomachines, teleportation, …). One man in the interplanetary council, to find a remedy to a very low birth rate, makes a “coup d’état”. Only, he is not well “surrounded”, he faces another faction of the council, with a planet where technology is no usable anymore, and where everyone must relearn to live… Excellent, and what is more, it is a bit like the situation in the USA.
Prince Roger MacClintock [with David Weber]: (March Upcountry - March to the Sea - March to the Stars - We few) Prince Roger MacClintock: (March Upcountry - March to the Sea - March to the Stars) Qualified of Military SF, this serie speaks of Prince Roger Ramius Sergei Alexander Chiang MacClintock, a real nuisance not raised at all and spoiled, who, because of a terrorist sabotage, finds himself with a space marines company on planet Marduk: mountains, heat, no technology, local people with four arms and easilly in a bad mood…
