I have had it for a while, but I never tried it. Which is a shame, it was a very good surprise.

Xenoblade Chronicles Boite

Graphics
It is, for the Wii, of a rather good level. Some areas were designed by stoned graphists, but the void is very realistic, the landscapes varied, and the chara-design cool.
Xenoblade Chronicles Décors
Grade: 9 / 10

Music
I was going to say that the music, beautiful, had echoes of Final Fantasy, Xenosaga, or Kingdom Hearts. And then I checked who were the composers… So I can leave it to the music is beautiful, since one can happily copy himself…
Grade: 9 / 10

Gameplay
The general system is great, on condition you use the classic Controller pro. The fighting system is half old school rpg, with a menu to choose your mooves and abilities to which you can give XP to up them, and half mmorpg, but it works. You have to collect things as loot but also in the blue thingies found every now and then on the ground. The drawbacks are the climbing system, where you randomly get one of your group members appearing above you and pushing you aside (or down) and the automated sentences in large speech bubles that takes a quarter of the screen, annoys you, and bother you when trying to look for someone/thing.
Xenoblade Chronicles Combat
Xenoblade Chronicles armement
Grade: 8 / 10

Length / Sidequests
Do not get me on that topic. I played what I thought were the 9/10th of the game, but after checking one thing in a walkthrough, were indeed barely 1/3rd of it. And all that while doing quests normaly, and not pushing it to get a specific cristal or armor to do a special thing. It is excellent in terms of basic length, and since you have the quests and the collections…
Grade: 9.5 / 10

Story / characters
The base story is original, with the idea that the characters are on the body of Bionis. On the other hand, the fight humans – machines, and the big villain’s “plans” are… tasteless. But the idea to do some “tourism” is nice, and the characters, sometimes a bit archetypal, are still interesting.
Grade: 9 / 10

In the end…
A game to recommend to all amateurs of rpgs, mmorpgs, and othe games with a story.
Final grade: 8.9 / 10
