L.A. Noire (PS3 / PAL)

Current Mood: Heureux
A detective games with fps-rpg-… aspects, I thought both Ol and I would like it.
Graphics
Very nice panorama and views of LA, facial expression very impressive (even if some lose at it, they are really awful “for real”, because of the quality of the rendering…)
Grade: 9 / 10
Music
The music corresponds well to the general ambiance, with special patterns for hostage situations / pursuits / … excellent.
Grade: 9 / 10
Gameplay
That is where the catch is. Some things are too easy (the controller vibrates for each clue, with a minimum of attention, you will not miss any), some are too difficult (the vehicle driving is a permanent hair pulling task). The general clues – interrogatories system is great, though.
Grade: 8 / 10
Length / Sidequests
The main plot, managed like a rpg, with experience points and promotions, is already dense. But added to that, there is the whole range of secondary inquiries (from hold-up to suicide tentative through hostage situation) available as you play along, then the vehicles, places of interest and costumes collection, so the game is really well-filled.
Grade: 9 / 10
Story / characters
It is rather nice, even if the overall story is not transcendent (Phelp’s career), they put in flashbacks, scenes for promotions, discussions with colleagues, … that give flesh to the character.
Grade: 9 / 10
In the end…
One of those games one must have in his game library, only problem: 18+
Final grade: 8.8 / 10
