A neat T-RPG for the DS, it is a good idea, no?

FF XII Revenant Wings Box

Typical Final Fantasy for handheld. Somewhat childish, very “old school”. But it goes well with the game, I think. Characters from FFXII are recognisable, as are the ethnicities of the newcomers.

The same themes and songs than XII, but in a contextual manner (a fighting music in combat, etc…). Nice but not more.
Grade: 7 / 10

A kind of tactical-rpg, the system will seem familiar to FF Tactics players, but with a “real time strategy” dimension added. Nothing complicated at all, one taps on the characters to give them orders / modify their actions. Captured-vanquished monsters can be added to your team. There is a synthesis possibility to create items. And the summons are there, though trough special terrain-set gates.

Length / Sidequests
Weeeell, I do not know, really. No real side quest (synthesis / ship management / … apart), not very long, it is a bit strange for a Final Fantasy, I think.
Grade: 7 / 10

Story / characters
This game is really a sequel to Final Fantasy XII, you will not understand much if you did not play it. Vaan and Penelo are back, as well as the FFXII races. The pitch is that Vaan is now the captain of his own ship, it is rather wide without a correct plotline.
Grade: 7 / 10

In the end…
If it is for Final Fantasy based tactical … better go to Final Fantasy Tactics (1, 2…). But this game still is a correct T-RPG / RTS, with some good ideas, and in FFXII univers so if you liked it…
Final grade: 7 / 10
