PoPoLoCrois (PSP / US – PS1 / US)

(Yes, I am already begining with my PSP test ^^; Sorry, I could not resist.. :-P)

Graphisme
That is the easy part, it is simply toooooo cute !!! Lo-ve-ly. The same “quality” that made me like Ragnarok Online makes me find PoPoLoCrois too cute. Characters with a “wonderfull” faces, a nice little background style, … But yes, the background is detailled, and renders well on the PSP screen, faces / emotions of the characters can be seen and change throughout the game, and so on. Personnaly, I will give it a good grade, for which I could be blamed of selling myself to the cutiness godess 😉 Still… It is a “general” love at first sight case more than precise reasons. Grade: 9.5 / 10

Music
A bit repetitiv after a while in some zones, but an effort was made to give to each zone “its” music, corresponding to the dangerousness and the style (medieval, village, farming, “manufacture”, …). On the other hand, about the quality, nothing to say. Naturally, knowing that the PSP can be used as a high quality MP3 Player, why would the game not take advantage of that ?? Grade: 8.5 / 10

Gameplay
The system is pure RPG, somehow a bit tactical. You can move to attack (and turn on yourself, since back attack are more efficient), use an item, magic, … everything with a menu. Moves are made along a “grid” depending of each character’s range and of the ground type. The characters can hit any opponent who stands on an adjacent square group (possibility to hit two adjacents opponents, depending of the positioning), and so on. No problem, and easy to “master”. What is more, apparently, magic and items are not much limited in range, or even not at all. Grade: 9 / 10

Length / Sidequests
There are two different situations: people who already played on the PS1, and who will probably not be interested by playing again with the same game, and people who know nothing of the game, and who will find here a good traditional RPG, med-fan with some factories / mecanical things. In the second case, it is very interesting in matters of length. For secondary quests, I had none yet, so I can not tell if there are any. Grade: 8.5 / 10

Well, for once, the main character is both important (the prince, son of the reining king), and modest (people often do not recognize him at once) but without trying to hide. That is refreshing. And there is a dragon (yes, I know, I know… ^^; ), funny monsters (A platypus… bears with rubber tires, …), a funny witch, what else ? Grade: 9 / 10

[Edit:]I just saw the first “movie” part, it is definitely too cute ^_^ Grade Up

In the end…
A good RPG, to buy if you want a game for your PSP and did not play it on PS1… Finale grade: 8.9 / 10

Flattr this!
